The digital art of Gareth Botha

I'm on Twitter!

Follow me on Twitter I'm now on Twitter (finally)! If you are on Twitter, please feel free to follow my page. Or drop me a message with a link to your page - I'd love to follow yours as well!

I plan on using Twitter to post news and announcements regarding this site and my design site, garethbotha.com, as well as art and design topics, sharing inspirations, resources that I encounter, thoughts and ideas, etc. If that sounds like something you'd be interested in viewing updates on, by all means, please do so! I hope to be reading your tweets soon!

New art added: Reticent

ReticentAdded new artwork - Reticent - to the gallery section. You can find it in the digital art section, at the top of the list. I hope you like it! More will be coming very soon. I've been working on two other pieces recently - a new digital painting (a portrait) as well as a landscape. Both are somewhat different from what I usually do, so I'm really excited about them. I've been enjoying experimenting with new styles and ideas, having a lot of fun and learning new things at the same time. Check back soon for more updates!

I've also made a few overall site fixes, and finally got all of the code validated!

The new face of Evisceral

Welcome to the new and improved Evisceral.com, showcasing the art and illustration work of Gareth Botha. This site contains numerous examples of my work, including digital art, traditional art, graphic design, etc. Please feel free to contact me for any reason whatsoever, whether you have a comment about the site, questions, requests for commissions, criticisms, etc. Please keep in mind that this site is intended as a more personal, visual "diary" of sorts, rather than an online resume and portfolio, and I will post here with less "restraint" than I do at my portfolio site.

With that in mind, thank you for taking the time to check out my site, and I hope you enjoy looking through it as much as I enjoy making it!

Portfolio update

at garethbotha.com

portfolio After many long hours, I've made a massive update of my online design portfolio, over at my professional portfolio site, garethbotha.com.

I added over 20 projects to the portfolio section, and made several overall site fixes.

I also removed the "resume" section, which i decided was unnecessary for the site.

Go take a look, and let me know what you think!

Good Morning America

gma1My work will be on TV this week, on Good Morning America, December 4th sometime between 8 and 8:15 AM! The city of Atlanta picked the company I work for to design and build a model of Atlanta, to be featured in one of three ground level windows in GMA's studio in Times Square, NYC. The display will act as a back drop for the popular morning talk show throughout the month of December, while also being viewed on Broadway by the millions of people who come to view holiday windows in New York City every year.

The project, which was directed by creative director Todd Gurley and incorporated the talents and hard work of dozens of people over a period of two or three months, including the Atlanta Office of Cultural Affairs and the Atlanta Convention and Visitors Bureau, shows prominent Atlanta cultural and historic locations, such as the Fox Theater, High Museum of Art, Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial, Georgia Aquarium, Centennial Olympic Park, and many others, all of which were photographed, and separated in Photoshop into multiple "layers" which allowed them to be printed to a rigid substrate to give a sense of dimensionality and depth. Thousands of fiber optics and LED lights were incorporated, as well as moving parts such as Atlanta's famous New Year Peach Drop and a sculptural replica of Atlanta's traditional "Pink Pig" ride. Our main theme for the display, "From Southern Grits to Holiday Glitz", is captured through the glamorization of each of the featured locations when decked out in full holiday decor, as well as through the use of traditional southern grits to create the hills of snow.

Please check out our hard work this Thursday morning, December 4th, on Good Morning America on ABC at 8 AM!

The grand unveiling will be performed by Atlanta's Mayor Franklin, and will be simulcasted to a live audience of supporters in Atlanta, ready to show their love for the city!

New art added

Five new images added to the Digital Art gallery today, with lots more coming soon. I haven't updated in forever, so i have several months worth of art to add still. Check back soon for more updates!

I've been experimenting with new styles, new color schemes, new ideas, etc. lately, and having a lot of fun with it. That said, people who are familiar with my work, or have been watching it for a long time may notice a little more diversity in the future. We'll see how that goes.
